Inspired by the agreements of a group of people concerned to seek cooperation for sustainable development to the population excluded and give them opportunities to improve their quality of life, the Association “Chito’ Iwib’ Xukuje’ Ri Uj Quixkat o’o” was established on June 18, 1988 as a private, apolitical institution and without aims of profit. Translated from the language k ´iche´ to Spanish means “Ayúdense y Nosotros Les Ayudaremos” , known as AYNLA, by its Spanish acronym.
 
Starting operations on April 24 of 1.989 in the department of Sololá and Totonicapán and January of 1.990 in the department of El Quiché. AYNLA is an organization that seeks to contribute to social development and economic improvement of rural and marginal urban populations in the country, through credit, as well as business consultancy and training programs to their customers. It supports productive efforts of men and women entrepreneurs, who live in poverty and have no access to the traditional bank financing.
 
Since 1992, have lent their specialized services in facilitating the process of financial intermediation in microfinance; with the help of different banks in the country and other international institutions which have provided, AYNLA, financing to make sub - loans to customers and improve the living conditions of the same, creating opportunities for self-employment and income generation.
 
In its journey, AYNLA has established agreements and alliances with national and international organizations, such as SHARE GUATEMALA HILFWERK AUSTRIA, European UNION, ALA Program 93/22, FIS (Social Investment Fund), Agency for International Development AID/AGIL, FONAPAZPRODERQUI, who has managed the implementation of various development projects and trust funds. It is also a founding member of the Coordinadora Interinstitucional de Guatemala -CONINGUA, also of the Alianza de Organizaciones de Desarrollo de El Quiché –AODQU-, as well as the Asociación Gremial de Entidades de Microfinanzas de Guatemala - AGREMIF-.
